Getting Diagnosed with Lipedema

Let's start at the beginning

If you want your conservative treatment documented under Lipedema, and especially if you're going to pursue surgery, you’ll need a Lipedema diagnosis because, as with any medical condition, a diagnosis is required to get treatment, and this is especially true if you want your insurance to cover your bills for any medical-related treatment for your Lipedema.

Getting diagnosed with Lipedema is still incredibly difficult. The medical industry is not up to date on our disease, often confusing it with lymphedema or general edema. Those diagnoses are a problem because they have entirely different treatments than Lipedema.

The first thing we can do is to get a genuine Lipedema diagnosis. A proper diagnosis not only helps us get the right treatment but will also make progress in getting our disease more recognized by medical providers.
