Lipedema and Me Has Evolved to Lipedema Insured!

And it's about time!

If you haven’t noticed yet, this newsletter has gone through a transformation.

When I started this journey over three years ago, I had just discovered that I had lipedema. At the time, I was a writer on Medium, passionately diving into women’s issues and running a successful publication called The Virago. But as I learned more about lipedema, I was shocked by how little awareness there was—especially around the challenges of getting approved for life-changing liposuction surgery.

That’s when I decided to focus my energy on something deeply personal: telling my lipedema story. I wanted to shed light on this disease, and Lipedema and Me was born. For a couple of years, it was all about sharing my journey, raising awareness, and connecting with women like you.

But over time, my focus shifted. I discovered my true passion wasn’t just telling my story—it was helping other women navigate the complex world of insurance. With my background in insurance, I realized I could be a resource for women with lipedema who need guidance through the process.

That’s why I’ve decided to take this newsletter in a new direction. It’s no longer just about my personal experience; it’s about empowering you with the tools, knowledge, and support to navigate insurance and get coverage for the care you deserve.

And yes, part of this change is about something else, too. Another wonderful creator in the UK is doing excellent work under the name Lipedema and Me (you can check her out at lipedemaandme.com). Rather than compete, I want to focus on what I do best—helping you with insurance.

I’m still updating my social media and other platforms, but this is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your support means everything.
