What I Learned From The Heart to Heart Virtual Event-Part 1!
There is so much to say; where do I start?! Plus, a link to the Q&A session on April 17th.
I have had a very busy past weekend at the Lipedema Simplified Heart2Heart, and taking a down day today as I ramp up again for this upcoming FRDS conference in St. Louis. There is so much information, and I have so much to share. I might be writing every day for a little while. I encourage you to take what interests you, and pass on what doesn’t.
Before I start, I want to remind everyone about the Zoom Q&A session on Wednesday, the 17th. I’ve gotten off to a rocky start, and I think it’s because I’ve been overdoing it a little bit, but I have set an alarm on my phone and cleared my schedule. I encourage anyone with questions about insurance or lipedema, in general, to join in! This will be especially helpful if you’re starting to look into lipedema reduction surgery or are even in the middle of getting your preauthorization. I will answer any questions you have; if I can’t answer, I can direct you to the answers you need. This Q&A is for everyone.

I also wanted to introduce you to this bad boy! I’ve been using hyperbaric oxygen therapy and am in the middle of writing about my experience. To give you a preview, though…it has been a game-changer for me! I can’t wait to share my journey with you on this!
Wow, talk about a packed event this past weekend! Three full days of presentations, information, and community. I want to welcome my new followers from the event! I hope you find this blog a good and interesting read.
I can’t recap all of it, but I’ll touch on some of the topics.
My favorite session was with Dr. Georgia Ede. A Harvard-trained psychiatrist specializing in nutrition science, brain metabolism, and mental health. She wrote the book ‘Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind.’ Her research on nutritional psychiatry was fascinating! To summarize from LS:
Dr. Ede presented compelling, emerging research that indicates dietary changes can significantly impact mental well-being. She also discussed specific dietary approaches that could help alleviate symptoms of mental health issues, providing new hope for those seeking alternative treatments beyond traditional methods. ~Lipedema Simplified H2H
Dr. Ede talked about replacing medication with food and how it can actually reverse mental health disorders, from depression and anxiety to bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. She talked about “brain food” and the science of brain metabolism. She calls this nutritional psychiatry and/or metabolic psychiatry. She leans towards a low-to-no-carb diet and even a keto/carnivore diet, but it’s much more complex than this. I downloaded her audiobook to learn more about this fascinating topic.
That’s it for this writing! I’ll bring you more topics over the week, and I am always here if you have questions.
Take care,
Michelle
